No. I've been enrolled in the opt-out for about three years and have never ran into this problem. Since you know you have good credit, ask them for a copy of the credit report (you are entitled to by law after denial). Odds are some info was input wrong either on your report or on the Sear's request for it. This way you see what they see... The opt-out program just limits you to only receive offers from companies that you already hold an account with; it has no effect on your credit score but it does limit the number of inquiries which helps your score in the long-haul. Keep in mind that Sears may have pulled your report from Transunion or Experian, without checking the Equifax report.

I collect credit card offers and then mix and match and return them in those postagfe paid envelopes. If Chase sends an offer, return in their envelope a Bank of America credit card offer, then clip some pizza and soap coupons and add those in too. They really like that.

Take off the parts with your name or any bar codes on the credit card offers though.

Go to https://www.dmaconsumers.org and follow the prompts this will remove you from the national mailing lists that the credit bureaus sell to credit card companies. It might take a couple of weeks but it will stop the offers.

You're getting these offers because the credit bureaus sell a limited amount of your information to them so they can make you an offer.
It sounds like your previous name is still on your credit reports.
You can call them and request it be updated.
Here's the phone numbers:
Transunion: 1-877-322-8228
Experian: 1- 888 397 3742
Equifax : 1-800-685-1111

As long as you are not still active on any credit accounts under your married name, I would obtain your credit reports
(if you haven't gotten one in the past year, you can get your reports from all 3 agencies from http://www.annualcreditreport.com ). Once you've obtained the reports, see if your married name still shows as an alias on them. If so, contact each credit reporting agency and request the name be removed as invalid.

In order for this to be succesful, though, you can't have any credit accounts (open or closed) currently reporting on your credit report under your married name. As long as one account is still being reported under your "old" name, the reporting agency will refuse to delete the alias from your credit record.

If you want to stop getting the pre-approved offers only,
you can "opt-out" of prescreened credit offers over the web
at https://www.optoutprescreen.com .
